“Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were uneducated, common men, they were astonished. And they recognized that they had been with Jesus.” (Acts 4:13)
The Jewish religious authority could not deny Peter and John had healed a congenital lame man. They asked both men, “By what power or by what name did you do this?” Peter replied that it was by the name of Jesus Christ. He went on to say they had put this same Jesus to death, but God had raised him from the dead. (See Acts 4:5-12). What audacity!
The Jewish leaders thought they were done with Jesus when he died. They did not expect to encounter him through the boldness of his disciples. They recognized Peter and John “had been with Jesus” so much so that the two men could talk about Jesus to others, even to those in power who were obstructing them. Jesus’ disciples were making a difference!
This REACH, we write about those in Project Serve who are directed to hear, follow and proclaim Jesus. Our prayer for them is to draw closer to Jesus so that they love to tell others about him. And like Peter and John, they can make a difference in the lives of others, undeterred by whatever ostacles and circumstances, including the inconveniences from this current pandemic.
