Dmitry was born in Russia and grew up there. The first time he travelled out was when he came to Singapore in 2009 to meet the girl he knew through an online computer game. She is now his wife, serving alongside him in SYFC.

What is your area of work?

I produce digital content, including animated stories and other media for the Immersive Room, Zoom and other online platforms useful for reaching youths.

How did you come to know SYFC?

Before coming to the Lord, I spent most of my time in front of computers, and at one point learnt digital art and game design. After God called me, He gave me the desire for Christ-centred storytelling in digital space, but I didn’t know of any Christian ministry that was interested in this. Then I met James Lee (part of the executive leadership team) and got to know about SYFC. It was clear God was leading me, so I joined without hesitation, again amazed by His wonderful sovereignty and grace.

How have you grown?

The SYFC family spurs me to get out of my selfish comfort zone, crucify my old self with its sinful desires, to honour God and to point youths to Him. In all that, to depend on Christ, seeing that I’m hopeless and helpless apart from Him.

What was something very tough to handle?

Completing a fully animated 10-minutes Christmas video within 2 months. I prayed daily for His help throughout that entire period. As always, the Lord was faithful to provide all I needed, and the video was successfully finished. God’s support and encouragement through my supervisor Eric, and through my wife Mei Huey was especially valuable.

What will the next few years be like? Your deepest desire?

I do not know what it will be like. Yet, knowing that my heavenly Father is in control of my life allows me to confidently follow Him, one step at a time. I appreciate being able to make use of the skills and ideas God has entrusted to me, and I would also love to journey with some youths, sharing Christ, the relevance of the gospel and the joy of living for Him.
