Dear friend,

“The harvest is plentiful, but the labourers are few. Therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out labourers into His harvest.”

— Matthew 9:37–38

The words of Christ continue to shape my calling at Singapore Youth for Christ (SYFC). In a nation where the cost of living continues to rise, God is still calling men and women to give their lives to reach young people for Christ. And He is sustaining them through the faithful partnership of friends like you. Allow me to share two stories, one of long faithfulness, and one of fresh obedience.

One Who Stayed

Ms Yong Soo Li has served with SYFC for 44 years. She began in 1982, reaching pre-university students in Katong, and later college students in the central region. Over the decades, she has led projects, developed outreach materials, strengthened our national leadership, and today continues to mentor younger staff, co-create Preteens ministry resources, and teach the Bible.
What has kept her here all these years? A deep conviction that God called her to reach young people and that the eternal harvest is worth it. Though age has reduced her physical strength, it has not diminished her faith. She remains grateful to still be useful in the Lord’s work. Her steadfastness is a quiet but powerful testimony to the next generation.

One Who Just Began

Alvin Lim represents that next generation. He first connected with SYFC as an ITE student. He served faithfully through his polytechnic years and National Service. While studying the book of Jonah, he sensed clearly that he could no longer run from God’s call. After completing his social work degree at SUSS, he stepped out in faith to join us full-time last year.

Why This Matters
We are currently blessed with 62 full-time and part-time staff. Each one has committed to trust God to raise their personal salary support. God has faithfully provided through the generosity of partners like you. In the coming year, we are trusting God to raise an additional 2.4% of our total staff salary needs. This will allow us to:

  • Provide a modest 2% salary increment for our staff, helping them keep pace with rising costs.
  • Welcome up to three new staff who will need time to build their personal support.

This represents an increase of approximately $80,000 in projected salary costs.

Behind every outreach event, every contact session in a school, every Bible study, is a staff worker praying, preparing, and trusting God, not only for ministry fruit, but also for daily provision. Your giving directly strengthens labourers like Soo Li to continue faithfully and enables young leaders like Alvin to answer God’s call without being overwhelmed by financial strain. We value your prayers and your financial gifts. Your gift, whether a one-time contribution or a recurring commitment, is certainly appreciated and valued.

Thank you for praying. Thank you for giving as the Lord leads. Together, we serve the Lord of the harvest.

With gratitude,

Richard Tan

National Director
