What led you to give up your previous vocation as a physiotherapist?

I wanted to learn and be more well-trained in full-time ministry work, especially in the aspect of evangelism with young people. I was equipped in the Poly Ministry for many years since I was a poly student, and that affirmed that God wanted to use me here.

What is your role in the Poly Ministry?

I oversee the evangelism efforts in Poly Ministry, including personal evangelism, small group evangelism, events evangelism and digital evangelism to poly students.

Share a timely lesson so far.

I have learned that the work of evangelism, like any work done unto the Lord, must be done with moral excellence. In 2 Peter 1:5-8, we read about making every effort to supplement faith with virtue and that virtue can be seen as moral excellence – to be right before God. Often, pursuing excellence in work is first on my mind instead of moral excellence.

As a young staff, wanting good results can become a weight in itself; but as I do God’s kingdom work, what He desires more is the moral excellence of His worker – being right before Him as I do the work. This means serving for His glory and not my own as there were times when I went after impressive results and unknowingly pursued self-glory.

Share an encouraging encounter with a young person.

I know a Christian young person who tried to share the gospel with a classmate, who is also her Final Year Project group member. Initially, she felt she might not be able to share as the workload for the group was becoming heavier. I probed a little and asked if she could try to do something now before they got busier. From there, she boldly wrote a letter to her friend, with the gospel in it. Her open-mindedness to take on a little advice and her heart for her friend to receive the good news of Jesus Christ encourages me.

What’s the hardest thing about sharing the gospel with poly youth?

Helping them to understand their worldview and how it shapes the way they see the gospel.

What keeps you going in the work?

Seeing lives saved!
