If I told you five years ago that one day everybody in Singapore will be wearing masks, you wouldn’t believe me. But here we are, wearing masks everyday. That’s not the only change. COVID-19 has forced us to move online and dive into the digital world. Digitalisation is moving so fast that it is difficult to keep up, let alone stay on top of the new digital trends.

As a ministry, we have been learning and trying to adapt over the past year. We now need to find new, exciting ways to organise events online. We were uncertain what these changes would mean and tried various ways to make our events unique for young people.

Despite our efforts, we never seemed to hit our goals. Sometimes, I felt discouraged when I hear how easily others got participants for an event without much planning. I would question whether God was on our side, whether He favoured others more. But in the past year, I saw that God’s ways are always higher than ours (Isaiah 55:8-9).

For each event that fell short of our target, God showed me that the number who came was just right. While we had no control on quantity, we could control quality. We learnt to treasure the few unbelievers who took part, providing a platform to spend quality time with them and share the Good News. It brought us back to the gospel, the core of our activities.

There were programmes where I thought to myself, “Wow, if we had any more people than this, I don’t think we were ready. God gave us the number of people He knew we could handle.” If there were more, God would have made a way nonetheless, but I saw that He knew best and gave us what we could handle. In this season, I am thankful for His faithfulness.
