Dear friend,
Last month, we remembered the death and resurrection of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. It was also a special time for us to talk with our friends and students about what Good Friday means. Here are three stories of how God had used and grown the young people in our midst to share the gospel during the Easter season and I pray you will be encouraged by the work that God is doing in and through these young lives.
The Evolving and Digital Generation Evangelism (EDGE) Ministry collaborated with 52 (Five Loaves and Two Fishes), an initiative that is focused on bringing young people together for worship. As a team, we put up a music presentation at four mission schools. B, the leader of 52 and a university student, was grateful to be used by God as the speaker to share the gospel at one of the schools. CS, a 19-year-old Project Servant and the singer of the team, was reminded to be more prayerful for the students because it is the Holy Spirit and not the entertainment level of the performance that will cause a person to turn to God.
In the Secondary School and Junior College Ministry (SJM), C, 14, shared the Easter story using an Easter card with her classmate JA. Last year, C had tried to share with her friend, but she only went through the activity on the Easter card and shared the facts of Jesus’ death and resurrection. When her friend responded with “okay can,” she was unsure how to continue. This year, her small group leader taught her how to ask questions to better access her friend’s response. We thank God for giving C the courage to ask the questions, and for JA who said that the message made sense to her. C also found some videos about God’s existence which she plans to share with JA after exams to help her explore further.
In another small group, A, 17, wanted to bring her friend E to an Easter performance on Holy Saturday but the week before that was one of her busiest. Right after Easter Sunday, she also had a test which she had not studied. She was very tempted to not bring her friend and skipped the Sunday Service, but she was glad she did not. Even though E did not give a clear response to what was shared, A knows that God’s Word will not return void. A was also blessed by the service on Sunday which reminded her of God’s great love for her.
We are grateful to God for the growth we have seen in these youths even as we journey with them. Please continue to pray for us as we support them in reaching out to others.
All Glory To God,
