Dear friend,

I have shared with you some of the things that the CORE (Continual, Organic, Responsible Evangelism) and EDGE (Evolving, Digital Generation Evangelism) Ministries have done in my past letters. STEM or Support, Teaching and Engagement Ministries (which rarely gets featured) form the third group of ministries in SYFC. There are currently 13 staff serving in STEM and their work involves managing the administrative processes, maintaining facilities, engaging donors and equipping the staff and volunteers.

While it may seem like much of STEM’s work is behind the scenes and mundane, it is hardly so. STEM staff are also involved in direct ministry with young people. Take the Teaching Ministry for instance, both staff in this ministry are often invited as teachers or trainers during Christian students meetings and church equipping sessions. On top of their daily responsibilities, some of the staff in the Support Ministry also serve as facilitators in the CORE Ministry’s programmes, ministering to and sharing the gospel with young people. Adeline Ong, who looks into the maintenance of SYFC’s facilities, explains that she continues to be involved in direct students work because SYFC is “a people ministry.” Joan Lee, our accountant, adds that her involvement in CORE Ministry’s work enables her “to invest in the lives of young people and better understand the needs of the grassroots staff so as to simplify administrative demands on them.”

Recently, staff in the Engagement Ministry revamped the database and website. If you do not already know, SYFC recently launched an interactive history book on our website (www.syfc.org.sg/our-history). This book was originally published in 2004 and distributed in 2007 during SYFC’s 50th anniversary to praise God for sustaining the work that Mr Joe Weatherly, an American missionary, started in 1957. I was personally very blessed when I read the book as I saw God working through challenging times and changing youth landscapes. You may have been involved in one of the events like Wild Goose Chase or Bible T.R.A.I.Ls or were an SYFC clubber. Hopefully, as you read the history book, it will bring back fond memories of your time with SYFC and reminders of the Lord’s work in and through your life then. Please contact us at contact@syfc.org.sg if you would like to access the e-history book or read the hardcopy version.

Finally, allow me to share with you a need in STEM. We are looking for a property and facility executive/manager who will be responsible for the maintenance of our facilities and ensuring that they meet legal and safety requirements. Other than that, he or she will be exploring how technologies can be integrated with our facilities, such as with our IT systems, so as to enhance workplace efficiency and also allow students to better enjoy our facilities. Please pray with us for a suitable person to take on this role and if you know of anyone who is suitable, please direct them to https://www.syfc.org.sg/job-openings.

All Glory to God,

National Director
